Neighbours
One of the things one always hopes for in ones home is pleasant neighbours.
My wife and I are one of the luckiest couples I know in this respect for all of our near neighbours are the most lovely people
you could wish to know. They have the same interests as us and are "neighbours" in the truest sense of the word.
It is a pity that this idyllic setting is spoilt by some people who
consider our little country road is an invitation for them to drive as fast as they can, in a 30mph speed limit area, with
no thought or consideration for those of us who live along what could be a pleasant country lane. Quite recently my wife saw
our lovely little orange tabby cat hit by a car that made no attempt to avoid it and did not slow down or stop to see the
damage which he had caused. It was extreemly lucky that some weeks later it has now recovered almost completely except for
a slight limp.
It is little wonder that one of our neighbours and myself have been
campaigning for 9 years for something to be done to slow traffic down on this stretch of road. Thanks to our efforts we now
have a speed limit. No thanks to the police, it is never enforced as they are "too busy". Why did they bother to put a limit
there in the first place?
